Pickleball fever has officially hit Fort Lauderdale in a big way!
The city just announced an exciting new public-private initiative that will create one of the largest dedicated pickleball facilities in the world - complete with 43 regulation courts, the world's first pickleball stadium, and a stunning lakefront setting.
Central to The Fort's allure is the expansive main pickleball club featuring 43 tournament-ready courts - 14 of them under the roof to allow play rain or shine.
Surrounded by trees and nature, the courts look out upon a sparkling 7-acre lake that will provide post-game relaxation and entertainment at an on-site restaurant and bar dubbed The Lakehouse. Patrons can sip drinks while gazing at the water views, giving the place a resort-like ambiance.
Catering not just to casual players but aspiring professionals, The Fort will additionally boast the world's first dedicated pickleball stadium for tournament events and exhibitions. Spectators can watch top touring pros train and compete up close on the complex's central court. Supporting amenities like a pro shop, locker rooms, and a recovery lounge will round out the unparalleled pickleball experience.
Beyond the courts, founders Brad Tuckman and Rich Campillo envision The Fort as a versatile events venue and community hub. The planned 4,000 square-foot event center, luxury suites overlooking the courts, golf simulators, game yard, and spaces for live music aim to have broad appeal - from hardcore players to families to corporate groups.
Local leaders also praise The Fort as representing the best of the public-private enterprise. Mayor Dean Trantalis hailed it as an initiative aligning perfectly with the city's ambition to be "a world-class live-work-play destination."
Along with creating jobs and economic impact, The Fort has committed to supporting local schools and charities - helping cement its role as a community asset for years to come. View the complete press release.
